Our History
Botonomy LLC was founded in 2005 by Mike Coyle and Christian Simms. Mike and Christian worked together previously for five years, and have provided software-related consulting, project management, and implementation assistance in a variety of industries, including:
- Technology (EMC, Groove Networks, Unisys)
- Pharmaceuticals (Wyeth, Johnson and Johnson)
- Health Care (Independence Blue Cross, The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia)
- Financial Services (HP Financial Services, Citibank, GMAC Mortgage)
Botonomy's mission is to "Help Small Teams Solve Large Problems", through innovative software and consulting solutions. Python is the cornerstone technology of Botonomy's products and services.
Botonomy's flagship software offering is ProjectPipe, an innovative web-based project management application that is designed to help small-to-midsize teams manage. ProjectPipe is implemented in Python, and embodies Mike and Christian's novel approaches to team collaboration and semi-structured data management in the context of project management.
In addition to its core software product offering, Botonomy provides a variety of software and project management consulting services to firms in the Philadelphia area. Mike and Christian are also regular speakers at the annual Delaware Valley PMI Tools Conference, where they help a largely non-technical audience understand how modern technologies can be applied to reduce project delivery risk.
In 2008, Botonomy rebranded its Python-centric consulting practice as PyGuys.com.
In 2008, Botonomy also introduced PyCOE.com: a service offering that to help Enterprise IT organizations develop a Python Center of Excellence. PyCOE materials are licensed under Creative Commons, as a way to spur the adoption of its principles by any organization looking to adopt Python as a core competency.
